Newton

Known as the Garden City, Newton became a recognized suburb of Boston back in 1766 and is home to a large portion of the Boston Marathon and the infamous Heartbreak Hill. Unlike many other communities that are established around a single Main Street or downtown area, Newton is comprised of several distinctive villages including Auburndale; Chestnut Hill; Newton Centre; Newton Corner; Newton Highlands; Newton Lower Falls; Newton Upper Falls; Newtonville; Nonantum; Oak Hill; Thompsonville; Waban; and West Newton. Originally a mill town, over the years Newton has become one of the more affluent neighborhoods in the Boston area. With easy access to the Mass Pike and Interstate-95 as well as the MBTA Green D line, Newton offers plenty of commuter options. With Chestnut Hill Mall close by, residents can also enjoy a variety of upscale dining and shopping choices without going downtown.
