West Roxbury

West Roxbury is a neighborhood in the city of Boston. Founded in 1630, West Roxbury was originally part of the town of Roxbury and was mainly used as farmland until it was annexed by Boston in 1874. The neighborhood is primarily a residential one with the main commercial district running along Centre Street. The Needham Branch of the MBTA Commuter Rail network has three stations in West Roxbury and several MBTA bus lines run through and/or terminate in West Roxbury.
